Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions that our client ask us when they attend a stop smoking session at Quit For Good.
Can I be hypnotized?
Anyone of normal intelligence or smarter can be hypnotized. There are only 2 reasons, aside from intelligence, why someone may not be able to be guided into hypnosis by a trained hypnotist: 1) Fears and 2) Misconceptions.
This web site will dispel some of the fears and misconceptions associated with hypnosis. However, further concerns will be removed in the consultation when a complete explanation of hypnosis will be given. During the consultation, we encourage you to ask any questions to relieve any remaining concerns.
Can I be made to do something against my will?
Hypnosis requires a “hypnotic contract”. This means that the hypnotist can not hypnotize a client without their permission. Furthermore, should the hypnotist give any suggestions that go against the client’s morals or ethics, the client will simply emerge from hypnosis or choose to not allow those suggestions to filter through. In other words the client is always in control of the session and will only accept those suggestions that he/she knows is of positive benefit.
Note: suggestions given to the client in hypnosis are checked with the client before hypnosis is induced to insure success.
Is Hypnosis Dangerous?
Because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and the client is in complete control at all times, hypnosis in and of itself is not dangerous. If it were, we would all be in jeopardy every time we get engrossed in a good book, movie, or TV show.
Hypnosis can be likened to meditation, the difference being that you are going in to that relaxed state with a goal in mind; STOPPING SMOKING
What does hypnosis feel like?
Experiences vary widely from one person to another. While some report a sensation similar to daydreaming, others report that they simply feel relaxed, or even that they were not aware of any differences at all.
Will I lose control?
Do we give up control of our minds when reading a book or watching a movie? These every-day examples of hypnosis best illustrate how the mind can create physical changes within the body simply through imagination. While reading a book or watching a movie, you are literally in a hypnotic trance; however, you still have the power to emerge from that state if desired. A book, a movie, or a hypnotherapist may guide your mind, but you still have the power to resist or return to normal everyday activity.
Do you guarantee that I will stop smoking?
It would be great if we could say that yes we can guarantee that you will stop smoking. However that is not one thing we can do with hypnosis because we do not have control over you. If somebody came to our office that didn't want to stop smoking well there is nothing that we could do that would make that person stop. During hypnosis we are not making you do anything that you do not want to do yourself. All we ask is that you accept the positive suggestions given to you during your session and if you do you will stop smoking.
Now even though we say we do not guarantee that you will stop smoking, we want to make sure that the session is successful for you. Our success does depend on your success. So if for some reason you do start smoking within the first few three months of having your session then you can come back in to see us for a free session. This is generally not needed but it is always there just in case.
What is your success rate?
We cannot give you an answer to this question becuase to do so would mean that we would have to provide evidence to the Advertising Standards Agency and this would break client confidentiality.
What we can say is that we do provide a free back up session if a person does start smoking again after their session and very rairly do we have to do these.
How much do you charge to stop smoking?
We currently charge just £75 for a stop smoking session at Quit For Good, which we believe is a reasonable amount to charge to help somebody achieve a life changing moment.
We are good enough to match the high fees that some hypnotherapist are charging but we believe that the benefits of being a non-smoker should be available to all.
